Do you want to know whether you're having a boy or a girl? Some want to know, others don't...
Do you know what you're having? It's the question that sooner or later every parent-to-be is asked. Some expectant parents want to be surprised. Some want to keep the gender a secret. Still others can't wait to tell the world.
Parents-to-be, especially first time parents, get a lot of unsolicited advice when it comes to finding out their baby's gender. Take some breathing room for yourselves and decide how you, as parents, want to handle this particular question. As with every other aspect of parenting, it seems like everyone has a opinion but the final decision is always yours.
If you decide you're going to reveal the big news, Pinterest has thousands of ideas for gender revealing activities ranging from cute to incredibly creative, from announcements to full blown gender reveal parties. Popular party goodies include cakes, cupcakes, cookies and cake pops with tinted fillings. Balloon releases are another favorite and can be especially fun for an older sibling. For a more low key approach, photos with banners, balloons or ultrasound pictures with hair bows or bow-ties are a fun option.
A word of advice: if you're waiting until the big day to be surprised, make sure your ultrasound technician knows that you don't want to know. With my first child the technician told me she could clearly see it was a boy.
